Journal edit buttonsDo you write your Journal entries with 'Write a Journal Entry' from the submit drop-down menu?
Did you notice that when you tried to edit your Journal entry, that it doesn't bring you to the correct edit page, just to the page where you edit "normal" deviations or to st.ash writer (where you could edit the Journal but can't notify your watchers or change the moods)?
Emoticonist Advent Calendar 2013 - fullThis year is going to be slightly different than in the last years.
The difference is that there will be actually 2 calendars
1 static (which will be posted in the Emoticon Gallery) and 1 animated (which will be posted in a Journal).
Each day in december one door will be opened from the project until we reach december 25.
It would be amazing if you could spread the word about it.
You can sign up for both calendars. (If you are sure that you can finish your entries in time)
The deadline until you have to finish your entry is - 1 week before the door opens (so I have some time left if certain deviants aren't able to finish their entry.) If you notice that you can't finish your entry or you lost the interest in creating something please tell me that immediately.
There has to be an Emoticon in your Entry.
Your entry has to be related to december or christmas (or any other holiday in december).

How to help your community:The community seems to be dead? And you don't think you can do anything to help?
You are wrong!
Let me tell you, I often felt this way. I believed it was the end of the community but then deviants showed up and reanimated it. It wasn't completely fixed, but it was alive.
There are many things that you can do: (in no particular order )
1. Write a Journal about the issue.
Don't be afraid to write a Journal if you feel there is something wrong with the community, maybe there are others who feel the same way, they might have been afraid to say something. You can work together to reanimate it.
2. Deviations and Comments
The deviations are the part that brought you together as a community, it is something that you all have in common. So, create more deviations! Others might get inspired and start to create some more as well.
And don't wait until others write comments on your deviation, it is important in a community to communicate. The others might think the

How to Make a Good Profile PageHow to Make a Good Profile Page
Learn some helpful tips to ensure your profile page is appealing to the masses!
written by `miontre for Community Week in %projecteducate.
Quite simply, the way you present yourself is important. People make decisions about other people based on the way they present themselves. You know this is true because you do it yourself. There is no shame in this, because it's natural human behavior: we simply do not have the time to make decisions about each and every person we encounter from scratch, so we have to make some decisions based on how they present themselves. One such judgments made in this way is how worthwhile a person is - through this, we don't learn about a personality, but rather how long we are going to hold interest in this person.
If there's one thing which makes me uninterested in a person's profile, resulting in my immediate departure, it's when there's too much junk and mess on there - a result of careless presentation. :l

PE: Creating art on CommissionPE: Creating art on Commission
At some point in your career as an artist, you'll be asked to create artwork on commission. Whilst it's a wonderful feeling, being able to make money creating art, it's completely different than selling a personal piece you previously completed - accepting a commission means entering a temporary relationship with your client. As simple it may sounds, there's a lot to satisfying customer's needs, sometimes the best you can do is to say no. Being picky regarding which commission you accept is not a bad thing, but try not to automatically turn down commission because it seems to be violating your artistic integrity, it's hard to survive without paid jobs.
✐ 1. Communication and flexibility
This is the key aspect to being able to work on commissio
PE: Contrast in Digital ArtThis article aims to introduce different kinds of ‘contrast’ in digital art, although most of the following points can also be applied to other media as well.
(noun) - Contrast is a principle of art. When defining it, art experts refer to the arrangement of opposite elements (light vs. dark colors, rough vs. smooth textures, large vs. small shapes, etc.) in a piece so as to create visual interest, excitement and drama.
1. Colours and Brightness
One of the first things to come to mind when we think of ‘contrast’ are colours contrasting with each other.
(The colours labelled as 'primary' are the primary colours in the RGB colour model. Primary colours of the CMYK colour model are cyan, magenta and yellow.)

Little thing called TalentLittle thing called Talent
"My name is Marc, my emotional life is sensitive and my purse is empty, but they say I have talent."
In general, talent means the skill that someone has quite naturally to do something that is hard, a high degree of ability that a person was born with. It's hard to argue that some people indeed have more of an inherited talent for arts than others. They are able to get to a certain level rather quickly and get a lot of praise along the way. However, relying on talent will only last for so long, there's a point to be reached when nothing but hard work gets you through.
"Talent is so loaded a word, so full to the brim with meanings, that an artist might be wise
