The interviewee of this edition is:
:iconcheerplz: :iconOnionBlitz: =OnionBlaze :iconOnionBlitz: :iconcheerplz:
opening words of the Artist:
Hai! I don’t really talk too much, so this will probably be the shortest interview you’ll ever see.
1. Programs of choice for emoting?
I use Photoshop.
2. What is your favorite legend emote?
My favourite one is , but the emotes that I use the most are and .
3. How important is shading/size/colour in emotes?
I think shading makes an emote more appealing to look at. Size doesn’t really matter to me. I think the color of an emote depends on the emotion you want to show.
4. Have you told people in real life about your emotes?

most popular emotes from January 2011Prepare yourself for quite a few Journals in the next days, I noticed that the "way back" function is working again and decided that it isn't too late to feature the most popular Emotes from 2011. :iconsuperw00tplz:
I would have included all months in one Article, but the Article would have been too big then. That's why each month will get their own Article.

Emoticon Contest: past vs. present vs. futureI am proud to present you my first "official" Emoticon Contest.
At first I want to tell you something about the theme:
As you have read the theme is past vs. present vs. future, this means your entry has to include something from the past, present and future. The time isn't set, this means that the past could be just 1 day ago or 100 years ago it's the same with the future. For example: you could display how the emotes have lived in the past how they are living now and how they could live in the future.
Be creative and surprise me with your imagination
The Contest is divided into 2 Categories:
The first Category will be for deviants who would like to work alone. And the second category is for deviants who want to work with somebody (a collaboration category ;D) 2 deviants can work together.
But you could also enter in both categories!
Below you can find the rules of each category and what you have to keep in mind.

"Does Equipment Matter?"
One of the more recent articles on the topic of photography explores how an instagram photograph taken during Hurricane Sandy has been selected to be used on the cover of Time Magazine. Perhaps quite fittingly, the title accompanying the image on the front page is Lessons from the storm. Whilst many have learned a lot from Hurricane Sandy and many more are working on rebuilding their lives, one of the biggest lessons for photographers and the world of media could well be that iphone Photographers can be photo-journalists too. We've covered the topic of equipment, capabilities and qualifications many a time before now in Photography Weekly - but what are your thoughts on this article?

Project Educate: Welcome to Typography!Welcome to Typography!
This week of %projecteducate is dedicated to Typography in all its shapes and forms!
"Typography is the art and technique of arranging type in order to make language visible." *
Typography surrounds us on a daily basis and usually we don't even notice it. Its purpose is to convey a message and not distract from it. This is what design is for: it puts information and language into something visually consumable.
This history of Typography starts long before Gutenberg or the Chinese invented movable type. Ever since language was born, man had to find other ways than mouth-to-mouth to transmit a message. What may have started with cave paintings developed into writing and thus, Typography was born.

"Have no fear of perfection - You'll never reach it! "
Have you studied Photography? I'm intrigued to know whether or not a qualification in Photography has made you a better, or indeed a worse photographer. Or has there been no change? This week, The Photography Blog asks whether or not a Photography Degree is worth the paper it's written on. Graduation in any field these days doesn't mean that you'll immediately get a job in your desired area. Not these days. So is it worth embarking on study related to photography when in the end, you could get to the same place without the paper stating what you are capable of? Photography is one of a small number of job areas where what you've done speaks higher volumes than whether or not you're

I suppose one of the most intriguing news stories the past few weeks has been the announcement by some Restaurants in the USA that they will be banning food Photography! Some claim that it's because of the flashes going off in restaurants and spoiling the mood for other customers. Others are angry that some professional photographers are making money or getting a name for themselves by sharing images of food that someone else has 'arranged.' And then there are the few that don't like the instagram snaps floating around that don't show their dishes in the best light. But what are your thoughts on the matter? One way of getting around the lack of being able to take a photo of your dinner is that some establishments are going to allow g

“ Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst."
– Henri Cartier-Bresson
Lots of people quote the above at me when I start to moan that I've taken a billion photographs on a specific day and none of them turned out to be worth anything. The truth is you might take a thousand or you might take 4 photographs before you unearth something that's recognized, liked and respected. It doesn't matter either way because you're creating first and foremost for yourself. When you start to take money for your hobby is when you need to look at technique, skills and actual finished product to ensure that you are meeting the sort of quality criteria needed. So whilst the quote is a famous thought - provoking one - it isn't necessarily true!
With the Seventeenth edition of Photography weekly upon us I'd like to just emphasize that the support given is wonderful, the feedback is fantastic and the general stats o

“Photoshop is just like makeup. When it’s done well it looks great, and when it’s overdone you look like a crazy asshole.”
Photoshop. You either love it, hate it or don't know because you can't afford it. As well as there being some fantastic tutorials out there to help you learn how to get the most from your work - I recently discovered Photoshop Actions. There are plenty here on deviantART to help you enhance your work in the most intriguing of ways. I had an experiment this week and found that the results were just amazing. Browse PS Actions yourself here on deviantART and see what you can find. The actions are fairly straightforward to use. You just download it and then install it into your actions pane on Photoshop. Most of them have a mini tutorial attached t
