Emoticonists on dA (8)

Tue Feb 14, 2012, 9:14 AM
:iconkrissi001:

I asked in a previous Journal that every Emoticonist should write a comment there.
You can still do it on this Journal if you haven't commented yet.
I sent notes to all of those who commented there and asked them a couple of questions.
And now I am going to feature all of this deviants and their answers :dummy:
If you saw that I have featured you and i didn't include all of your answers/or any answers, you could write a Journal and include all of your answers there. ;D

What is your first reaction when you find a new Emoticonist?
If they are really good and just started, i will watch them and give them positive comments! if they are just a beginner, i will watch them and give them constructive feedback.

Pick 5 of your most favourite Emoticonists and describe why they are special to you, what makes them stand out from the others?
=happy-gurl - she is a great emoticonist and she features a lot and makes really great static emotes. :)

~Xanderpus - he has only been here for 7 months and he's been doing a great job in participating in contests and collabs and events :)

~litecrush - great emoticonists/pixel art and always featuring other artists and there to help others

=Web5teR - really great emoticonist he stands out because of his emoticons and art. it's amazing

~Nice-Spice - she's always willing to make things for other deviants for free. she makes lots of gifts! she likes to feature and show off your art to other people ;)

Is there anything that you want to say to the whole Emoticon community?
Keep supporting each other! :#1:

How could we strengthen the connection within the Emoticon community?
Have a list of not very popular emoticonists

Do you have any words of encouragement for the next Emoticon Community Volunteer? Anything that, you think that, could be important for the next CV?
I think that they should only be a community volunteer if they KNOW they will be dedicated, focused, organized for the community. If they are and are willing to take that big step into becoming a CV, then good luck and i hope you will be fair and throw some funny comments so people don't find you intimidating! ;)

If you haven't been really active in the community, what could be done that you get more active again?
if people start sending me messages asking for me to come back or participate in some things, then i will.

If you are new to the Emoticon community:  Do you feel welcomed?  What could be done to make new emoticonists feel welcomed?
When i was new, all i had was one person to help me with emoticonists. No one really welcomed me, i had to figure out most of the things myself. :|
i've welcomed new-comers before by first giving them a personal message on their profile welcoming them and then watching them and comment on all their art

If you have created a couple Emoticons, but then stopped creating them:  What was the reason that you  stopped to create Emoticons? What could be done that you start to create them again?
The reason would probably be that it's too complicated or hard, and that i can't pixel anything right. good tutorials will be helpful. or new ideas since i've been suffering from art block.

What is your first reaction when you find a new Emoticonist?
I always feel excited and glad as I can talk with his/her as possible as I can. Since I can be extremely curious, I always try to ask some questions which are related to his/her first experience as an emoticonist...or maybe about his/her current life. :B

Pick 5 of your most favourite Emoticonists and describe why they are special to you, what makes them stand out from the others?
To me, there are lots of amazing emoticonists on dA. However, I would like to pick 5 of my favourite emoticonists and I will tell everyone why I do that. Let me describe everything about these 5 emoticonists.

^ClefairyKid She is the first person who inspires me a lot to create emotes. She also very great not only for making emotes but she is talented in other art genres, especially pixel art and photomanipulation. I have once stumbled into her gallery and...I found too many 'whoas' there. :giggle:

=Phlum He is another awesome emoticonist that I found here. He is extremely creative when he creates his emotes. Even he has high community spirit as I always saw him hosting some community projects.

`Quolia Another great emoticonist? Yes! She also very creative and have high imagination when she creates her emotes. Even she is very helpful to other deviants and eager to participate in any community projects. And oh, I have heard that she promotes several amazing artists in her journals too! :la:

`Mirz123 She is an awesome person with lots of great pixel art, emotes other art pieces of other art genre. To me, most of her pieces found on her gallery promote positivity and everyone who sees her pieces will fall in love to them...

~Nice-Spice She is very creative, nice and polite. Even though she joined dA 2 months ago, I found that some of her emotes are so attractive.

Is there anything that you want to say to the whole Emoticon community?
Sure. Emoticon community is very amazing, awesome and friendly. We may have different skill, creativity and ways we use to create our emotes but it does not stop us all emoticonists to improve themselves and unite in this little yet unique emoticon community. Therefore, wherever and whoever we are, we should respect and be polite each other to maintain good relationship in the community.

How could we strengthen the connection within the Emoticon community?
We should have good relationship at each other. Try to greet them and talk politely with them anytime if you can. I don't know if I have talked with any emoticonist yet but when I give comments on any emoticonist's art, journal or poll, they reply my comments and I do the same thing too.

What kind of things do you want to see less / more in the Emoticon Gallery?  (miscats excluded :stare:)
I would like to see more new emotes created with more amazing new idea used by any emoticonist. I always love if I create my own name in Japanese katakana...using emotes. :XD:

Do you have any words of encouragement for the next Emoticon Community Volunteer? Anything that, you think that, could be important for the next CV?
Yes! :eager: I hope that the next Emoticon CV will be all right in his/her job as the CV, be polite and friendly to all emoticonists. =)

If you haven't been really active in the community, what could be done that you get more active again?
This can be a bit difficult as I always deal with laziness almost everyday. :( To be more active in the community, what I can do is trying to overcome art block and laziness every time they happen to me. Always try to follow any updates of some community-related news and try to manage time wisely so I can be active in the community while doing my works.

If you are new to the Emoticon community:  Do you feel welcomed?  What could be done to make new emoticonists feel welcomed?
I think I feel welcomed as someone encourages me to try making an emote and improve any of my not-so-good emotes. To make new emoticonists feel welcomed, we need to greet them. At least, say "Hello", "Hi" or any words to cheer them up. Visit their gallery and give positive and constructive (if you can) comment. Tell them what's good and what's not good about their pieces, which need some improvement. It may feel that anyone appreciate them. =)

If you have created a couple Emoticons, but then stopped creating them:  What was the reason that you  stopped to create Emoticons? What could be done that you start to create them again?
Well, since I will prepare myself for a (very great :O) public examination for this year in my country, I have no choice but have to stop creating them for a while as I need to study harder...and some subjects that I learn are extremely hard :stare:. However, when I'm not studying, I will try to brainstorm new ideas and start creating new emotes again.

What is your first reaction when you find a new Emoticonist?
I want to do my best to welcome them to the community!

Pick 5 of your most favourite Emoticonists and describe why they are special to you, what makes them stand out from the others?
ONLY FIVE?!  Okay.
`SanguineEpitaph - One of my best friends on dA.  We were clearly twins that were separated at birth because we have 3041234 things in common.

*otohime0394 - Anna and I became fast friends.  She's really supportive and rediculously funny!  FUN TIEMS ALWAYS.

=Web5teR - He is a huge inspiration for all emoticonists alike.  He is giving us all a reason to strive for even bigger and greater things!

~Blobzy I found one of Adam's deviations in a group and thought... and I'm glad I did.  This Wild Jai says you rock!

~EternalxRequiem  - Her art is so beautiful! It has a soft, warm fuzzy kind of feeling.

Is there anything that you want to say to the whole Emoticon community?
Thank you for being so accepting to new emoticonists!  -isanewemoticonist-

How could we strengthen the connection within the Emoticon community?
More opportunities for large groups to get together!  Like chat events and such.

What kind of things do you want to see less / more in the Emoticon Gallery?  (miscats excluded :stare:)
More inclusive things and less exclusive things.  More open projects!

Do you have any words of encouragement for the next Emoticon Community Volunteer? Anything that, you think that, could be important for the next CV?
I support you 1000%!!

What did you like and what didn't you like in the time when I was the Community Volunteer?
I like that you were very approachable and kind. :>

If you haven't been really active in the community, what could be done that you get more active again?
If I become serious about emotes then I have to start making general emotes too and not just OC art.  Also. Join more contests!

If you are new to the Emoticon community:  Do you feel welcomed?  What could be done to make new emoticonists feel welcomed?
I did. :>  I did notice there were some groups and such, but generally they are very open to stragglers. :P

What is your first reaction when you find a new Emoticonist?
I check their gallery out, comment and see if there is some way to help them c: then definitely watch them  !!

Pick 5 of your most favourite Emoticonists and describe why they are special to you, what makes them stand out from the others?

and fifth is ~Nice-Spice SHE'S MY dA SIS AND THE MOST AMAZING PERSON !! NUFF SAID !

Is there anything that you want to say to the whole Emoticon community?
thank you SO much for accepting me as an emoticonist :tighthug: even though i'm not that popular, but i feel like i can be me here :aww: :iconaawplz:

How could we strengthen the connection within the Emoticon community?
i always wanted to live in a town :D because everyone knows everyone and all. i feel like dA is a HUGE nation and Emotes are in "Emote Town" xD i really love how everyone knows everyone !! i don't know how it could possibly be better

What kind of things do you want to see less / more in the Emoticon Gallery?  (miscats excluded :stare:)
i feel like there should be more massive emotes :stare: i feel like they're extinct now :stare: and there should be less dArama :stare:

Do you have any words of encouragement for the next Emoticon Community Volunteer? Anything that, you think that, could be important for the next CV?
i think that they should look for the idea that stands out best, and just feature what they feel like is worth it, not because of someone's feelings or because their friends or something ^^; and i'll support you! No matter what !!

What did you like and what didn't you like in the time when I was the Community Volunteer?
I LOVED how it was like everyone is equal, no one is higher and no one lower c: i hated nothing about it :iconheeplz:

If you haven't been really active in the community, what could be done that you get more active again?
i think i need to make entries for the projects i promised :noes: maybe start my own icon family or something c: who knows? :<

If you are new to the Emoticon community:  Do you feel welcomed?  What could be done to make new emoticonists feel welcomed?
to be honest, even though i've been making emotes for many months now..i still feel a bit like an outsider sometimes ^^; i don't exactly know why :> but i like it the way it is c:

If you have created a couple Emoticons, but then stopped creating them:  What was the reason that you  stopped to create Emoticons? What could be done that you start to create them again?
i think i'm having an emote-block :noes: :nuu: i'm working on an emote  right now, hopefully that'll help me get back in the groove :w00t:

What is your first reaction when you find a new Emoticonist?
OMG I wonder if I can help them out with anything :giggle:

Pick 5 of your most favourite Emoticonists and describe why they are special to you, what makes them stand out from the others?
`Mirz123 because she is such an inspiring person, and she works so hard at everything she does.

~Xanderpus because he does so many different things but still manages to update everything once in a while.

=pixiepot because she makes a huuge change to the emote community.

`Krissi001 because she is just plain awesomeness.

~Nice-Spice because she is so generous and amazing. because she is just plain awesomeness.

What kind of things do you want to see less / more in the Emoticon Gallery?  (miscats excluded :stare:)
I think people should stop remaking the official emotes for no particular reason and should think up some things of their own that are unique.
