Emoticonists on dA (13)

Fri Feb 24, 2012, 5:37 AM
:iconkrissi001:

I asked in a previous Journal that every Emoticonist should write a comment there.
You can still do it on this Journal if you haven't commented yet.
I sent notes to all of those who commented there and asked them a couple of questions.
And now I am going to feature all of this deviants and their answers :dummy:
If you saw that I have featured you and i didn't include all of your answers/or any answers, you could write a Journal and include all of your answers there. ;D

What is your first reaction when you find a new Emoticonist?
:squee: then i usually take a look at the emotes they have made and I will critique them if i can.

Pick 5 of your most favourite Emoticonists and describe why they are special to you, what makes them stand out from the others?
Mirz123 She is so kind and creative and she was one of the first emoticonists i found.
happy-gurl she is so amazing at static pixelling! and she's really fun to hang with
CookiemagiK His emotes are all so awesome!
Krissi001 really awesome emoticons that are really fun and cool!
Ricsmond new yet amazing went from 3D art to emotes and did an amazing job.

Is there anything that you want to say to the whole Emoticon community?
:happybounce::megaphone:HEY GUYS! CRITIQUE MY ART

How could we strengthen the connection within the Emoticon community?
more all inclusive community projects :dummy:

What kind of things do you want to see less / more in the Emoticon Gallery?  (miscats excluded :stare:)
More ECs and Improvement from newer emoticonists, less dArama (and less miscats too )

Do you have any words of encouragement for the next Emoticon Community Volunteer? Anything that, you think that, could be important for the next CV?
Dear the next CV:
You are gonna be awesome! just make sure to post plenty of awesome DDs

What did you like and what didn't you like in the time when I was the Community Volunteer?
since you were the CV the whole time i was a part of the community, I liked the everything especially the Emotiviews :eyes: and disliked the um... ill get back to you on that

If you haven't been really active in the community, what could be done that you get more active again?
more inspiration is needed for me to make more emotes

If you are new to the Emoticon community:  Do you feel welcomed?  What could be done to make new emoticonists feel welcomed?
I felt pretty welcome i met other emoticonists soon after and learned a lot from them. Maybe have deviants keep an eye on the newest emotes category and such to find new Emoticonists as soon as possible and offer them support.

If you have created a couple Emoticons, but then stopped creating them:  What was the reason that you  stopped to create Emoticons? What could be done that you start to create them again?
I never stop, occasionally slowdown though XD just need some good ol' fashioned encouragement.

What is your first reaction when you find a new Emoticonist?
I don't usually have much of a reaction. Usually with every new emoticonist I'm just excited to meet them and discuss ideas.

Pick 5 of your most favourite Emoticonists and describe why they are special to you, what makes them stand out from the others?
litecrush because she's extremely sweet and talented, and Web5teR because each one of his pieces take my breath away.

Is there anything that you want to say to the whole Emoticon community?
You folks are a lovely bunch, and I believe the final line of the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic theme song is the only thing that can sum up my feelings for you.
"Do you know, you're all my very best friends."

How could we strengthen the connection within the Emoticon community?
Perhaps by being more open and welcoming to others, and by not being afraid to critique and talk to other emoticonists, I believe the emote community could have a lot of potential.

What kind of things do you want to see less / more in the Emoticon Gallery?  (miscats excluded :stare:)
I sure would like to see more fanart emoticons. It'd be a lot of fun to see how others depict anime or cartoon characters in emote form. :)

Do you have any words of encouragement for the next Emoticon Community Volunteer? Anything that, you think that, could be important for the next CV?
I honestly don't know what they might need until I find out who they are. Never judge a book by its cover!

What did you like and what didn't you like in the time when I was the Community Volunteer?
I do like how more and more people became inspired to join the emote community. The only thing I didn't appreciate was all the clique-ness  that happened around fall, but I'm completely positive it had nothing to do with you.

If you haven't been really active in the community, what could be done that you get more active again?
More projects, less contests. Since there are so many contests, I feel less compelled to do anything. I'm honestly kind of a sore loser. :giggle: But if there were more simple projects, I think I would be able to show myself in the community a bit better.

If you are new to the Emoticon community:  Do you feel welcomed?  What could be done to make new emoticonists feel welcomed?
When I joined the emote community, I was going through an extremely stressful time, so I didn't notice much. I think I just... appeared without anyone noticing, really. I think it would make new emoticonists feel more welcome if more of us PERSONALLY welcomed them and, as I mentioned earlier, discussed ideas and helped critique their art.

What is your first reaction when you find a new Emoticonist?
Ooh, yay! A new emoticonist!! I wonder if they have pizza emotes....

Pick 5 of your most favourite Emoticonists and describe why they are special to you, what makes them stand out from the others?
bigfunkychiken - he's really nice and makes awesome emotes.
Mirz123 - I loooooove her emotes and she's so niceee....
Web5teR - SO. MUCH. DETAIL. Nuff said.
Sailor-Pikmin - Hetalia emotes!!!!!! And a bunch of other awesome ones.
happy-gurl - She's really nice and makes awesome [pizza plant related] emotes. :D

Is there anything that you want to say to the whole Emoticon community?
You're awesome, and if you forget I'll shove a pie in your face.

How could we strengthen the connection within the Emoticon community?
Some more collab-related projects might be nice, especially projects that wouldn't take too long because a lot of people don't have as much time for projects.

What kind of things do you want to see less / more in the Emoticon Gallery?  (miscats excluded :stare:)
Ok, I would've said miscats so I'm glad you put that LOL. Ummm, I guess less unoriginal emotes, I dunno, I like a lot of the emotes.

What did you like and what didn't you like in the time when I was the Community Volunteer?
I liked the contests and stuff, there isn't really anything I didn't like....

If you haven't been really active in the community, what could be done that you get more active again?
I don't know, I just need more time to make stuff.... Maybe if you can all email my teachers and tell them to give me less homework LOL.

If you are new to the Emoticon community:  Do you feel welcomed?  What could be done to make new emoticonists feel welcomed?
I'm not really new anymore.... but I felt very welcomed the first time I made an emote. :)

What is your first reaction when you find a new Emoticonist?
*goes through gallery, :+fav: a ton of things, watches*

Pick 5 of your most favourite Emoticonists and describe why they are special to you, what makes them stand out from the others?
Nice-Spice : Probably my first friend on dA, she is an amazingly kind, down-to-earth girl. Her art inspired to me continue making emoticons and she has been there for me when I need help and support.

Krissi001 : She makes spectacular emotes and is an inspiration to ALL... She also strives to reach out to the emote community and help them become friend with others.

CookiemagiK & Web5teR : Both of them are extremely talented emoticon artist that I look up to, hoping one day I can have the talent they do.

BurgerBunny : She is so nice and sweet and has a natural talent for pixeling :) She is also one of those really talented artists that actually go out and search for other emoticonists that she hasn't met yet :meow:

(Also BunnySlice who is not actually an emoticonist but a talented pixel artist)

Is there anything that you want to say to the whole Emoticon community?
Keep on making those emotes! :la:
and thanks for accepting me into your community :)

How could we strengthen the connection within the Emoticon community?
More projects like these that help us meet new emoticonists!

What kind of things do you want to see less / more in the Emoticon Gallery?  (miscats excluded :stare:)
More: Awesome emotes

Do you have any words of encouragement for the next Emoticon Community Volunteer? Anything that, you think that, could be important for the next CV?
Honestly, because I haven't been in the community for long, I don't really have any advise...
All I can say is:
Good Luck!!

If you haven't been really active in the community, what could be done that you get more active again?
When I first joined the community I didn't try very hard to become well known, but a few people help me get going and encouraged me. I am very thankful for that :)
Plus, thank you to all that have supported me, i really appreciate it!

What is your first reaction when you find a new Emoticonist?
Normally I browse through their gallery to find if they have done previous pixel work or just started, and leave a few comments on their work. Followed by a watch :eager:

Pick 5 of your most favourite Emoticonists and describe why they are special to you, what makes them stand out from the others?
  ;~; just 5?

xxghost250xx, nikkittie would have to be up there, being friends I made even before I got into emotes properly, and them also becoming emoticonists I have to add them here :eyes:

EastSideSunsets for being both an epic friend and fellow pixeller. She's helped me push along with so many emotes which would be left for dead and many other things, I don't I'd still be on dA if it wasn't for her.

Synfull and CookiemagiK were a couple of the first ever emoticonists I looked up to; and I'm lucky enough to been able to talk with them, in general their own emotes and kind words have helped me. Invader :happytard: by nillemotes

Five is limiting..

Is there anything that you want to say to the whole Emoticon community?
You're all epic, and I'm glad you're all here

How could we strengthen the connection within the Emoticon community?
I think maybe more communication between all levels would be a good start.

What kind of things do you want to see less / more in the Emoticon Gallery?  (miscats excluded :stare:)
Miscats   That aside, large and/or detailed scenes in emotes are always a big hit for me.

Do you have any words of encouragement for the next Emoticon Community Volunteer? Anything that, you think that, could be important for the next CV?
I'm sure whoever they are that they will do fine. We'll love you. :happybounce:

What did you like and what didn't you like in the time when I was the Community Volunteer?
I loved the articles and journals with information, and especially those projects, I couldn't wait for them to update :dummy:  I can't think of any bad points though :paranoid:

If you haven't been really active in the community, what could be done that you get more active again?
Someone to poke me more often  I am a horrible time keeper and normally need many reminders to do something. Even if it's just a comment or someone's journal it can work :B
